Exciting Bridesmaid Website – Weddingtonway.com

I stumbled on a cool new exciting website that recreates the way modern brides can coordinate their bridesmaid dress selection & ordering experience.  WeddingtonWay removes the stress of BM dress coordination, selection, fitting, shopping and ordering.

Here’s how it works:

STEP 1: SHOP AND SAVE DRESSES TO FAVORITES – Brides can select different dress styles and add to their favorites cart.   Here’s an example of their favorites cart.

STEP 2: VIEW FAVORITES AND COMPARE SIDE-BY-SIDE  – Once the bride compiles the dresses they are interested in, they can view all dresses selected side by side and even delete as needed.

STEP 3: ADD BRIDESMAIDS TO YOUR BRIDAL PARTY  –  Right from the same website, the bride can send emails to bridesmaids inviting them to view the select dress their favorite dress.  Brides can also monitor which BM has ordered their dress and send emails, its like a message board – soo cooollllll!!

STEP 4: BRIDESMAIDS RANK SHARED FAVORITES – Bridesmaids can vote on their most favorites and track their own progress as well.   This is the coolest part of the process for me that Weddingtonway has made less stressful.  Once each BM votes, the brides receives an automatic email and can monitor who still needs to vote.  Here’s what the BM will see to vote for their favorite dress:

Dress fitting – While WeddingtonWay is an online store, they have arrangements with stores in most states, so that the bride can go into the stores in their states and try the selected dress.  Or you could just send WeddingtonWay your measurements and they can identify you size.

Now here’s the best part, WeddingtonWay not only coordinates all these tasks for you, but will also help you order your dresses from the selected dress designers at a discounted rate.  They also carry flower girls dresses and you can also order dresses for special events as well.

Please spread the word to all 2012 brides, not only does the bride and her BMs save time, the whole process is more coordinated and you also save money on WeddingtonWay.

Timeless Lace

My last post got me thinking about a trend in wedding fashion that will never be outdated ~ the timeless lace.  There’s something about lace that is so timeless and elegant.  My love for lace comes from  the careful detail and intricate braiding  technique used for lace fabrics, which makes any dress classy.  I also love how lace falls on the skin or layers on other materials making anything it touches fabulously attractive.

This post is dedicated to the lace wedding dress that in my opinion can be translated into a keepsake dress or altered into a new bridal gown for future generations.

Here are some beautiful lace wedding dresses that will never go out of style or can be altered and brought back to life.

Monique Lhuillier – Ballet Spring 2012 collection  – I like this dress because it is non-traditional, simple, chic and yet classy.  This is a keeper and won’t ever go out of style.  You can keep it for future generations or maybe even dye it and wear to a cocktail dinner 🙂  (the possibilities are endless):

Monique Lhuillier – MILA Fall 2012 collection  – This is another gorgeous Monique Lhuillier wedding dress.  The style is simple, but the lace-work makes the dress effortlessly elegant.  I really like the lace-work on  the front slit and how the lace on her back accentuates her skin.

Tadashi Shoji Lace & Chiffon Gown – I absolutely love this dress and would have bought it for my wedding if I had a beach wedding.  Not only is the dress non-traditional, but the color is too – IVORY.  See I told you lace works great in just about any color!  The lace-detail at the back and how it falls on the hip is lovely.

Let me know your thoughts on the Timeless Lace dress!!!

Future of your Wedding Dress ~ Consignment or Keepsake

A few days after saying “I do” (in most cases),  you get back home from your well deserved honeymoon and your gorgeous wedding dress is staring back at you.   This thought usually leads you to 1 of 2 options on the future of your wedding dress – Consignment or KeepSake.

In our generation (25yrs – 40yrs old), many brides are practical, financial savy and want to recoup some of the money spent on their BIG day, while a handful of brides are sentimental and cherish the day they will see their daughter/future generation wear their wedding dress down the aisle some 20 – 30yrs later.

I definitely fall into the first category as I’ve been thinking of the best way to sell my wedding dress a few days after my wedding.   It’s interesting though understandable that the best resale price most consignment stores will offer is a fraction (50%) of the actual cost of your wedding dress.    I’ve found a few consignment stores in Atlanta where I plan to take my wedding dress for consignment and I’ll share with you in future posts where I eventually sell my dress (when it’s sold).

I totally understand brides that augment or dye their wedding dresses for later use and would like some feedback from brides who decide to preserve their wedding dress for future generation.   I played with the idea of preserving my dress, but all I could think about was the conversation I had with my mum when I saw her wedding pictures.  She still thinks today that her dress was GORGEOUS, but I think otherwise and I’m happy she didn’t decide to keep her dress for me J

I plan on exploring everything wedding on my future blogposts.   Share your thoughts about the future of your wedding dress ~ Consignment or Keepsake???
